Boys of Lindel

I wanted to do a heartfelt tribute to one of my best friends, as he has another birthday approaching,... my Louie! He is also lovingly called Mufasa, as he is the King of his Hill! 

Our Louie came into our lives  at a very dark time. He was born just 3 days before our oldest Daughter Danielle passed away. 

That August I called a close friend and breeder ,Donna Calabrese to see if she could keep her eye out for a nice male, with impeccable temperament and a beautiful ( his sire is a Grand Victor and his Dam was a Select) healthy pedigree. She told me she just happened to have a 4 1/2 month old puppy from Canada that she co bred. She thought I would love him. So off to Virginia we went to meet this puppy. The rest is history so to speak.

This boy has been through it all with us and a huge part of our lives from day 1! He has the perfect German Shepherd temperament and a great head on his shoulders. If you read the standard he is exactly what they call for!  He owns the ground he stands on , neither aggressive nor shy! 

Along with becoming our best buddy and family member , he was a wonderful stud dog and has produced beautiful sound Champions, narcotic and apprehensive K-9's , Certified Therapy Dogs, along with many children's best friends. 

In 2014 after an incident, Louie went to live with my son at Temple University. When we took him down there the first time he of course followed me to the door ready to leave with us. I escorted him to his bed that we brought down for him and put my arm around him and said " You're going to stay here buddy. You need to watch Nick and these boys and protect them. okay?" When I walked to the door he didn't follow, but looked at me with a look as if to say " I got you mom!' From that day on whenever we took Louie and Nick back to school after a visit home; when it was time to leave he would go lay on his bed and watch me , giving me that same look. He knew exactly what his job was!  He quickly became one of the guys! Going everywhere the boys went . Needless to say they drew attention everywhere they went. And their house was the only one on the block that wasn't broken into at least once. Talk about temperament and adaptability ...He went from a Country Boy who only knew friendly strangers who would always throw a ball for him, to living in a dorm in North Philadelphia with 4 guys , walking the streets to get to places and hanging at the fraternity house! 

We are so very blessed to have him him in our lives all these years! So very blessed to see him closing in on 13 years and still healthy! 

Every night he still bats around his ball and brings it to me for a few throws and then happily goes and lays down with it again. I love that he still loves to play and be silly.  It also amazes me how he loves to sleep in and not go out to potty with everyone in the morning, but never an accident!  

Such a gentleman !

Unfortunately due to financial reasons Louie never got his Championship from AKC, but he is OUR Champion every day!
